Can a lawyer help clean my credit report if I do not owe anyone?
I settled on three accounts. It was better than bankruptcy. Two of the companies I owed and paid did not report it to the credit authorities. It looks as if I still owe them when I do not owe one penny. What do I do?

It can take up to 6 months for the credit report to reflect the payment. The negative remarks remain for 7 yrs. There is nothing a lawyer can do.

You don’t need to pay a lawyer.
How long has it been since you paid? Allow at least 60 days for the collection agency to update. If they still don’t show paid, dispute the items with the credit bureau. Include a copy of your settlement agreement and payment proof — you did of course, get the settlement agreement in writing and have proof of the payment.
By the way, paying off derogatory items won’t improve your score not does it get the item removed. The damage is done and will remain for the balance of the 7 year reporting period.
