Meteorology Questions (Extra Credit Help)?
1. The specific track that a Mid Latitude Cyclone (MLC) will take is largely determined by winds blowing: NEAR THE SURFACE or IN THE WINDS ALOFT.
2. Dew points are likely to be relatively high to the SOUTHEAST or NORTHWEST of the MLC center.
3. With the passage of a warm front, the air temp. rises and the dew point RISES or FALLS.
4. With the passage of a cold front, the air temp falls and the dew point RISES or FALLS.
5. Ahead of the warm front, warm and humid air rides up and over a wedge of cooler air. As the ascending warm air expands and cools, its relative humidity RISES or FALLS
1) In the winds aloft – jet stream
2) Southeast – Cold fronts "hang" from MLCs and are followed by cool, very dry air.
3) Not sure and I don’t want to misinform you…
4) The dew point will fall.
5) Rises – since it is relative humidity and the temp is dropping, the max amount of water vapor the air parcel can contain will drop – causing the vapor in the air to become a larger and larger percentage of the total vapor the parcel can hold.
