Please help with my credit score!! ?

I had a pretty good credit score at the beginning of 2007, but as the year went on I could not pay my credit cards debts, so long story short I’m in about 8,000 dollars in debt and it just keeps rising, and my credit score is down the drain. Has anyone ever had the same problem if so, please let me know what you did. I want to go talk to a credit restoration place but don’t know any good ones, I’m located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Thank you

No firm you can hire can remove accurate negative info from your credit files…so don’t waste your time and money.

Contact your local Red Cross for a referral to the local Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS) in your area. They can negotiate much lower payments and interest rates. They DO NOT negotiate settlements.

They will require you to stop using all credit and to cut up your cards. Your credit report will be updated to "enrolled in debt management." This does not damage your credit, but it may make it impossible to obtain new credit while you are enrolled in their program….so don’t use this service if you anticipate applying for a new apartment, car loan or mortgage anytime soon, as you would probably be denied while you’re enrolled in the CCCS debt management program…. Otherwise, it can be a very good way to deal with your debt.

The credit resolution places can sometimes cut your interest rates and kill all the side fees. They require that you not use the card anymore and really close the account and make it just where you make small payments to it.

Your credit score is low because you have a bad credit balance to available credit ratio. I would work 2 jobs and pay them off or try to get a better job or a raise.

I would promise myself that I am not going to be irresponsible with my credit cards the next time. When you pay the cards off your score will go back up again.

SlimMick is absolutely correct. Avoid credit restoration services like the plague. They will collect you rmoney and hold off on paying your debts in an effort to get the creditors to settle. This ends up putting 30,60, 90 day plus lates on your file. Go to CCCS. You will be better off in the long run.
