how do i erase a bad credit history legally? Australia?

I would love to pay off my debt of 4000 but because i moved alot due to family circumstances I do not know who or which company i owe all this money to.
I just know I owe this much.

So if dont know who to pay the debt to then obviously my bad credit record with unpaid debts will stay in my life forever!!!

I don’t want that. I am ready to pay alot of money to a business that can legally delete my credit record. Is there one in Australia?

I know a friend of mine changed his name, first name and last name and he got a loan! using that new name. He also has a history of bad credit in his old name but he used his new name and he got offered credit cards from each corner.

I don’t know how he did this though. I saw whenever he applied for a loan he would take his drivers licence (with his new name on it) and it would get approved.
He also changed his name on his passport.

I don’t know if that’s illegal or what but he is having such a great life.
(sigh) god i am tired of posting the same stupid question here and people not getting it!! I CAN’T FUCKING RENT A HOME! OK? With a bad credit record I am HOMELESS period, unless i go into share accommodation for 7 fucking years!

You don’t know who you owe money to?! Surely you have records you can refer to? Pull a credit report and see what’s on it, then pay off those debts for starters.

You can always get loans – even if you change your name – but the terms may be really ugly (high interest rates, for starters). No one can erase your credit history – with time and work it will improve, but it takes seven years for bad accounts to drop off your report. Just walking away from old debts is not the answer.

Edited to add: We DO get it. Other than having someone cosign with you (guaranteeing rent or loan terms will be paid), I can see where finding a place to rent would be hard. There is no way to just erase your credit past, no matter how badly you might want it. I don’t mean to sound ugly, but your own actions put you in this position and the only way out is to work through it just like everyone else. There’s no quick fix.

i am really lost here. i have seen you post this question a few times and i am confused, as you can still rent a house with bad credit rating in australia!

When you rent a house they check to see if you are blacklisted. If you are not and you earn enough income to afford the rent then you are not knocked back. having a bad credit history does not impact your ability to rent (unless you owe money from home loans or to landlord or real estates). If you show you have a steady job, have good rental history references, have bond, your income is less than 1/2 of the rent you are paying then they will consider you.

They look at all the applications and look for the ‘best person’ and the type of person the land lord wants to rent the property to. but your credit rating should not pay a part of this as you have cleared the debt.

As for your bad credit history.
you can pay for a comprehensive credit rating report which lists who you own money to, when and for how much – then you can contact the places and pay it off. Once you have paid it off you contact the company again and ask for them to write on your credit rating that you have paid it off. Even though it will take 7 years for it to drop off your credit rating most company’s will still loan you money.

As for removing things for your credit rating, you cant. only way is if it was put on in error then you can apply for it to be removed but its not really it just has a little note next to it.

below is the 2 main redit reporting agencies in australia. They should be able to provide you more details

Dun & Bradstreet Public Access Centre Dun & Bradstreet (Australia) P/L PO Box 7405 St Kilda Road VIC 3004 Phone: 132 333 Fax: 03 9828 3185 URL: http://dnb.com.au/Credit_Reporting/Order_my_consumer_report/index.aspx

As for the smart ass remarks in the additional details, maybe you should contact a more reputable source OR type into google ‘fix credit report australia’ and do some research yourself, instead of expecting a professional answer out of a website like Yahoo Answers.

Hmm, you might want to consider consolidating your debts? Approach your bank; they can either approve a lump sum or direct you to a provider who can. Tell them your situation and they will assist you in locating your creditors.
