normally it is 7 years before bad reports come off your report

The bad credit get erased in Canada after 6 years and hard enquiries after 3 years. While in USA bad credit is erased in 7 years and hard enquiries 2 years. In UK it would be different.

The laws will differ from were your at but most accounts should fall of after 7yrs from the date of reported default usually 180 days from your last payment. They rarly do though and you must look at your credit to make sure as some things such a tax liens and bk can stay for 10+ yrs . No they are erased after 7 years, meaning they are removed from your credit report.

It's 7 years, and that is to have it removed from your credit report. Whether you still owe it is determined by state law, and may be more or less time.
