What happens to your credit score when you cancel a credit card?

say you are in good staying, never was late. always payed the balance. but you have too many credit cards let’s say. so when you cancel that credit card. what happens to your credit score? Does your credit limit you had for that card get erased from the records? after all those years of building the credit limit to help the credit score. what happens to it? and what happens to your score? i’m just curious.

There are a lot of factors affecting your credit score. Let me just break down what you mentioned and identify whether they would be good / bad for your credit score.

Never late / always paid the balance – Definitely good

Too many credit cards – This, more often than not, lowers your credit score… especially when the total card balances take up too much of the total credit line given to you.

Is the Kayden Group a legit alternative to bankruptcy?

I found it on the website. It says it brings instant credit restoration and only costs $4,800.00.

Save your money please – Try and find a CCC group near you or in thenext town you live in – ok….I love the www but – that is alot of money to shell out – and have never heard of them. You could call them, get their address and call the Better Business Bureau and see if they have any complaits on file.

Here is some other information – ok

How To Improve Your Credit
. If you have had credit problems, be prepared to discuss them honestly with a mortgage professional. Responsible mortgage professionals know there can be legitimate reasons for credit problems, such as unemployment, illness or other financial difficulties. If you had a problem that’s been corrected, and your payments have been on time for a year or more, your credit may be considered satisfactory.
If you are currently in excess debt, there are four ways to control it:
. If your credit is not in terrible shape, you can reduce your other expenses, even if it means making hard choices or changing your lifestyle to fit your income. Consider selling a second car, taking equity out of your home, applying for a non-secured signature loan, obtaining a loan from a relative, selling your home and paying off your debts with the proceeds and then renting, cashing out your 401K/retirement benefits or selling family heirlooms, jewelry, etc.
. If your credit is already damaged or one of the above isn’t an option, go through Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS). Check your yellow pages for the local number. CCCS may be able to help you pay off your debts as if you were in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy, but you don’t actually file for bankruptcy.
. If CCCS won’t take you, you may want to consider bankruptcy. Claiming Chapter 13 bankruptcy takes longer than a Chapter 7, but your credit will end up in a little better standing. Chapter 13 bankruptcy gives you up to 5 years to pay off your debts. The disadvantage is that you’re in bankruptcy for up to 5 years plus your credit report shows your bankruptcy for 7 more years after you have finished paying off your debts.
. If you are so far in debt that you can never repay it, then the best solution may be a Chapter 7 bankruptcy. A Chapter 7 bankruptcy is the least desirable from a credit standpoint, but you are typically out of bankruptcy in 6 months and you don’t have to repay any debt. The disadvantage is that this shows on your credit report for 10 years from the date of filing your bankruptcy. (it used to be 7 years).

Good luck to you.

PLZZZ help, im doing bad in math class, need the EC!!

Math takes practice — not asking someone else to do it for you.

How high can my credit score climb if I have only credit cards in my credit history?

My current credit score is 745 and I’ve built it solely by using credit cards and paying on time (but never had any loans). Somebody told me that the abscence of installement-paid loan will prevent my score from climbing much higher. Is it true? Should I take some consumer loan to boost my credit score since I am planning to apply for a mortgage in the near future?

You don’t need an installment loan. More often than not, they pull you DOWN. Who told you that? If you are looking for the free credit score national site, check out this site

What happens to my credit score if I get married?

I’m in my late 20’s and my soon to be husband is in his early thirties. I have credit card debt, but I’m working on it. I have a couple bank accounts. I also have a really good credit score. My soon to be husband filed for bankruptcy a couple years ago after he got divorced to avoid paying for bills his wife wasn’t paying. He doesn’t have a credit card. He does have a bank account. I have no idea what his credit score is. Will my credit score be affected when we get married? Should we share a bank account when we get married?
Note: His wife bought things and then didn’t pay for the bills for them. They were items she bought and used when they were separated. He didn’t see or use them. When she didn’t pay for them the creditors came after her. She claimed she wasn’t working and then they came after him after they were divorced. He was advised to file bankruptcy so the creditors would stop going after him.

Nothing
When I married my wife she had and still has 12000 dollars in unpaid debt. Her creditors can’t touch me because none of it is in my name and none of my property is in her name
